UW historian Phil Roberts puts the current crisis in historical context with an examination of the 1918 Spanish influenza outbreak in Wyoming. Over 15 months, the epidemic claimed 780 Wyoming lives, closed schools and shut down events statewide. “There has been no part of the state that has been immune nor has any particular class of people been favored,” one newspaper noted.
