Rapid City SD area schools withheld +350 new books and attempted to quietly destroy them

Multiple copies of 7 titles were purchased for English 12 classes last fall, but they never made it to classrooms. It’s an example of what’s being “silent censorship” a.k.a. self-censorship.

To quote one teacher, “One teacher told me they couldn’t use Here To Stay by Sara Farizan as a class read because it was about a Muslim person. ‘Someone would yell about that,’ the teacher said.
