Thousands — 10,001 so far — have been denied Medicaid coverage, and it’s not clear how many are actually ineligible. Before COVID-19, children accounted for the larger portion of Medicaid coverage, and at this point, 3/4 of those denied coverage are children. Of those working on their reinstatement, more than half report that this is the first time they’ve tried to get reinstated. The concept is new.
