“The Colorado Supreme Court’s ruling marks the first time a presidential candidate has been determined ineligible from holding the office of President and disqualified from appearing on the state’s presidential primary ballot for actions related to an insurrection. Colorado’s highest court is not the only court considering President Trump’s eligibility to appear on a state’s primary ballot, which means voters nationwide need clarity.
“The League of Women Voters recognizes that the legal determination that President Donald Trump is ineligible for the White House under the U.S. Constitution is likely to be resolved by the Supreme Court. We hope the Court will issue a swift and decisive decision that provides clarity for voters in Colorado and other states during the upcoming presidential primary election season.
“For more than a century, the League of Women Voters has worked to empower voters and to ensure everyone is fully represented in our democracy. We hope the Supreme Court will decide this matter once and for all so that voters receive the clarity they deserve to vote with confidence.”
