This article centers on tribal voting in AZ.  A quick understanding comes with the 15-minute video.   Why do the tribes celebrate July 15, 1948?  Citizenship was given with the Indian Citizenship Act of 1924.   Voting rights was a state’s decision and the last state, New Mexico, granted suffrage to natives living on a reservation in 1962.  Three years later the 1965 Voting Rights reinforced their voting rights even though literacy tests and the absence of a USPS mailing address continue to stand as barriers
