Wisconsin LWV has requested an investigation into threatening emails sent to young adults — 18-25 — statewide.  Recipients, including younger LWV members, were sent a message intended to discourage:

“WARNING: Violating WI Statutes 12.13 & 6.18 may result in fines up to $10,000 or 3.5 years in prison. Don’t vote in a state where you’re not eligible. STOP2END.”

Freshmen and sophomore students are typically first-time voters.  They are intimidated to vote in a new town.  They may worry that their campus address isn’t a valid voting address, yet they don’t have time or opportunity to “go home” to vote.
