Chief Malerba assumed her duties in 2022.  One of her responsibilities is to place her signature on all U.S. currency (lower left).   Malerba oversees the U.S. Mint, the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, and Fort Knox.  She is a member of the Mohegan tribe originally at home in CT. U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and U.S. Treasury Chief Lynn Malerba sign banknotes.

For the first time, two women provide the two signatures on U.S. bills.  Janet Yellen, Treasury Secretary, is the signatory on the right side.  The Treasury Department was created in 1789, and Dr. Yellen is the first woman to run that department.  However, she wasn’t allowed to place her signature until two years passed and Chief Malerba assumed her office.  The designers require a treasurer to be in office before new money can be designed.  Read more>>>
