SCOTUS ruled in favor of the Wind River Care System last week. The case was about reimbursement of what’s being called “gap funding,” totaling approximately $4.5 M. It pays for billing costs and federal reimbursement for Medicaid and Medicare.
The court reasoned that if the tribe paid either out-of-pocket or by spending from future care funds, they were being penalized for taking steps to become self-reliant. The care funding had the opposite intention. Read more>>>
