Private Wind Farms & Counties disagree on assessment authority

In Legislative testimony last week, I learned that 3rd-party consultants compute wind farm values for counties and (sometimes) the state.   I also learned that wind companies claim they have more uncertainty at the local tax level and that going from one county to the next, assessments change the valuation.  No one I’ve asked seems to know much more than “it’s complicated.”  This bill essentially takes the authority or choice out of county hands. I’ve enrolled in a Property Tax/ Assessment online class to be better informed.  read more>>>
