60th Anniversary: Civil Rights March on Washington

In 1963, 150,000 Black people and 60,000 white people fulfilled a plan first discussed in the 1940s. They presented a list of ten demands.
Those demands resulted in the Voting Rights Act of 1965 and the Civil Rights Act of 1968. It’s best remembered for the Martin Luther King, Jr. speech, “I Have a Dream.” Read more about the 11 protest marches in DC.>>>
