Limited Mining Operations (LMOs) are operations for mining 15 acres or less.  These small undertakings are exempt from permitting and don’t require a period of publice comment.  New legislation would expand LMOs to include almost all minerals.  One such LMO was the controversial gravel pit  proposed on the edge of Casper.  Mines with the intention of growing could start as LMOs.
