The Brennan Center advocates a new $1 billion federal funding program — the Public Safety and Prison Reduction Act — to fund states to reduce incarceration while promoting  fair criminal justice policies that preserve public safety.   Policies should also consider the safe reentry of people being released from jails — 500,000 yearly. 

The current web of laws and policies for people with criminal records.  We hear about voting restrictions, but others restrict jobs — e.g., can’t resume a nursing or teaching career. Read more>>>
