Birthday of LWV founder, Carrie Chapman Catt
January 9 @ 12:00 pm
Carrie Chapman Catt (1859-1947) founded the League of Women Voters six months before the 19th Amendment was passed. In 1900 she had become the succeeded Susan B. Anthony as the second leader of the National American Women’s Suffrage Association. Wyoming footnotes include her friendship with University of Wyoming (UW) trailblazing professor Grace Raymond Hebard, receiving the first ever UW Honorary Degree, and joining local women to launch the Wyoming state league in 1946 in Cheyenne.
