    The LWV co-founded and co-chaired the Motor Voter coalition with groups like the ACLU and NAACP.  One aspect of the league's NVRA work during the 1980s and 1990s.  The NVRA was signed into law by President Clinton in 1993.  NVRA

    The American Tortoise Rescue established World Turtle Day in 2000.  The organization has helped rehome turtles and tortoises, animals that inhabit every continent—except Antarctica.  The United States has the greatest number of turtle species.  See more photos>>>
