After 3-1 defeat in the Senate Corporations Committee, Floor Leader Majority Floor Leader Larry Hicks (R — Baggs) moved that the bill be withdrawn from Corporations and sent to the Revenue committee. That motion passed 19-12.

The bill blocks switching party one day after the last candidate filing date for the primary election.  For the general election, party switching is blocks for the last 14 days before the election.

Party switching has been an issue for the GOP for two elections.  In 2020 the Foster Friess urges Dems to switch parties and in 2022, Dems freely switched parties to vote for Liz Cheney over Rep. Harriett Hageman.
