The article suggests that K12 schools are responsible to help families.  Online learning as was seen during the worst of covid-19 is not the only reason families depend on the internet. What makes the situation even worse for students is that fewer districts are helping pay for home internet now that even hybrid learning is mostly a memory.  15 million kids are affected.

There is money to continue supporting internet service, but it comes from a program few know: Affordable Connectivity Program part of the Infrastructure and Jobs Act passed in 2021.
